The writing duo behind The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Cruel Intentions and The Unauthorized O.C. Musical is bringing The Unauthorized Friday Night Lights Musical to a Los Angeles stage in 2016.
You know you want to see Coach Taylor singing “Suck It Up” and “Give ‘Em 110% All the Time”? Or Tami belting out “I’m 100% Right All the Time, You Can Ask My Husband” from a giant glass of chardonnay? Or how about Riggins leading the Dillon Panthers in “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose” with a Busby Berkeley number at the end. Just making those up but we’re sure we’re on the same page with the creative.
Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross of Sucker Punch Productions are on a roll with their Unauthorized series. The two have a development deal for a TV version of their Cruel Intentions musical. What we know so far is that The Unauthorized Friday Night Lights Musical will take the stage in the late spring or early summer. Scott Porter will play Coach Taylor in all of his monologuing glory.
Cruel Intentions director Roger Kumble as well as stars Reese Witherspoon, Selma Blair, and Sara Michelle Gellar attended the Unauthorized stage version of their 1999 film so please let the universe let Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Jesse Plemons, Zach Gilford and Taylor Kitsch carpool for the musical version of Friday Night Lights.
Here’s also hoping that there is a special duet between Landry and Tyra, ending win Peter Berg staggering out on stage, drunkenly rambling about what happened with the WGA strike, the NBC cancellation and the move to DirecTV and how he doesn’t need anyone since his HBO deal for season two of Ballers.
If they worked in Amy Schumer somehow, world peace might be achieved.
