Sara Ontaneda: Entre Espacios y Colores

By Lisa Waugh

Sara Ontaneda has been serious about music since the age of 13. She studied at conservatories in Guayaquil, Ecuador while also delving into contemporary styles as well. Ontaneda played with jazz and bossa nova bands and toured across Ecuador. She studied writing and production at Berklee College of Music and released her first single in 2014, “Pero Hoy.”

Ontaneda’s angelic voice and superb style have put the young talent on the map in South and North America. And her new album Entre Espacios y Colores is a knockout. I enjoyed each and every single track but I especially loved “My City.”

Ontaneda’s voice and music make me feel good. And living in a super stressful time in history, this record came along at the right time. She sings in English and Spanish and if you’re not up to speed in either language, it doesn’t matter.

The record is hypnotically peaceful. Magically mellow. Simply a gorgeous record.
