FLAUNT Rave Noir

By Stephen Chow

Justin Jennings and Joseph Vitterito created FLAUNT to experiment with different approaches to music making. On their new project Rave Noir, the band sought to create a new, yet old, storytelling experience. “We wanted to make an album that was reminiscent to some extent of what radio used to sound like… Where a Zeppelin tune would be followed by a hit single by the Little River Band and then something by the Gap Band,” the band says.

Vitterito and Jennings are not afraid of hard work. There are 18 tracks to prove that work ethic. The record is filled with alt pop, electronic, and synth recordings with a touch of old school metal. And there are 13 music videos to accompany tracks, all very well done, and full of storytelling.

Even upon the first listen, it’s clear that FLAUNT really thought about each track and how it flowed into the next. There’s none of that disjointedness that can happen when the thought process is all over the place or interrupted. Overall, Rave Noir is a satisfying experience. Watch and listen to all of it.
